"Marc was very supportive, and I felt confident that he could help me and also re-establish my credit as quickly as possible. We worked out a payment plan, and in several months my obligations were discharged and a tremendous weight was lifted off my back."

Marc G. Alster

Marc Alster has been representing debtors and creditors in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey, as well as for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York for over 20 years. During the last several years Mr. Alster has concentrated a significant part of his practice in representing individuals who need to file for protection under Chapter 7 or 13 under the United States Bankruptcy Code. Both prior and subsequent to starting his law practice in October of 1991 (from 1987 to 1995) Mr. Alster had represented creditors before both The U.S. Bankruptcy Court(s) as well as in New York and New Jersey.

Marc Alster specializes in commercial litigation, wrongful termination, civil rights and insurance claims. He is a consultant on compliance with Federal and State employment laws. His general practice includes Estate Planning and Trusts, Real Estate, Personal Injury and Bankruptcy matters.

Mr. Alster is intimately familiar with state foreclosure proceedings as well as the bankruptcy process itself. Mr. Alster’s extensive previous experience in representing lenders in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court and in State foreclosure proceedings gives him a unique insight as to the best way to advise and protect individuals who need to either file and/or consider filing for protection under the United States Bankruptcy Code.

As a result of his knowledge, experience as well as individualized pre-screening of all prospective clients, not one of the firms’ clients has ever had to withdraw a bankruptcy petition due to opposition from a creditor, the U.S. Trustee’s Office and/or a Chapter 7 or 13 Trustee; more particularly as a result of Mr. Alster’s pre-screening not one of the firm’s individual client(s) filing for bankruptcy protection has ever lost any assets or had to pay any money to a creditor, The U.S. Trustee and/or a Chapter 7 or 13 Trustee in order to avoid losing any of their assets.

Mr. Alster has published numerous articles concerning the scope of protection afforded to individuals under the United States Bankruptcy Code, many of which have been printed in this website.
